Hydrographics, also known as water transfer printing, is a method of applying printed designs to contoured metal, plastic, glass, hard woods, and various other materials.
The possibilities are endless, as anything that can be painted can be Hydro dipped. From dashboards, subwoofer enclosures, body panels, and emblems, to wheels, helmets, or entire motorcycles and UTVs, anything can be dipped in any color and pattern combination imaginable! There are endless styles of patterns from carbon fiber and wood grain, to ghost flames, snakeskin, and camouflage, our limitation is your imagination!
The process is similar to a high-quality paint job as the part will require complete surface preparation and primer before it is painted. The hydrographic film is placed on the surface of a large, water-filled tank, and an activator solution is applied to film to dissolve it before the painted piece is dipped through the film. After application of the hydro graphics, the part must dry thoroughly before the clear coat is applied to the finished product. Every step of the process is important, from surface preparation and paint application to applying the correct amount of activator and dipping smoothly through the hydro graphics film. That is why it is best to allow a trained professional to prep and dip your parts for a high-quality hydro graphics application that will look great and last a long time.
